Lapsus
Keyboard layout switcher for Windows and macOS
Types the word you meant, not the keys you hit.
For anyone who writes in two languages and keeps forgetting to switch the layout. It runs on Windows and macOS, and nothing you type leaves your computer.
Free for personal use. Organisations need a licence.
See it work
Wrong layout? Press one key.
Lapsus retypes the line in the right layout on the spot. No deleting, no switching languages, no typing it all again.
The whole line was typed on the English layout. One key retypes it in Hebrew.
Six writing systems: Latin, Cyrillic, Greek, Hebrew, Arabic and Georgian. Typos are fixed along the way.
What a single slip costs
The same message, typed entirely in the wrong layout. With Lapsus it takes one key. Without it, you select the text, delete it, switch the layout and type it again.

What it adds up to for a team
In an office that switches languages all day, those seconds turn into hours. Plug in your own numbers.
Based on 22 working days a month and an 8-hour day. Lapsus is free for personal use; organisations pay per seat.
What it fixes
Three correction modes
The hotkey stays the same. You choose how Lapsus works out what you meant.
Dictionary
Weighs every possible reading of the text against 33 dictionaries in six writing systems: as typed, converted to each of your layouts, and with typos fixed. It changes the text only when one reading clearly wins.
Layout only
Replaces each character with the one on the same key in the other layout. No dictionary and no guessing: you pressed the hotkey, so the text gets converted.
Neural network (optional)
A small language model on your own computer rewrites the whole fragment. It runs on CPU or GPU and still works offline. Until you load a model, dictionary mode does the correcting.
Day to day
Fits how you already type
Choose when it corrects, use it on text you have already written, and keep it out of apps where it does not belong.
On a hotkey or automatically
Fix the current line with a hotkey, or have each word corrected as soon as you press Space. Automatic mode stays off until you turn it on.
Tools for selected text
Correct a selection, change its case, transliterate between Cyrillic or Greek and Latin, or fix reversed Hebrew and Arabic text. Each action has its own hotkey.
Stays out of your way
Lapsus ignores the apps you exclude, never records what you type into password fields, and leaves IME input alone.
Inside the app
One settings window
Lapsus sits in the system tray. Hotkeys, excluded apps, dictionaries and the local model are set up in one window with four tabs.
On your machine
What you type stays on your computer
No telemetry, no account, and no server that ever sees your text. What you type never leaves this device and is never used for training, and any language model runs on your own computer.
Lapsus goes online in three cases only:
- to search for or download a dictionary or a language model, when you ask it to
- to check for updates
- to verify a licence key, if you entered one (usually at work, where an organisation needs one)
- Password fields are skipped wherever the operating system can identify them
- Captured text is wiped from memory as soon as it is no longer needed, and after a minute of inactivity in any case
- Apps you exclude are ignored completely
- The source code is open, so you can check anything you have doubts about

Common questions
How do I fix text typed in the wrong keyboard layout?
Press the Lapsus hotkey right after the line and it is retyped in the right layout, typos fixed. The defaults are Pause / Break on Windows, and ⌃⌥Space or a double press of ⇧, ⌃, ⌥ or ⌘ on a Mac. You can set your own in settings. On Windows, text you typed earlier can be selected and fixed with Scroll Lock, and that hotkey can be changed too.
Which languages and layouts does it support?
Six writing systems (Latin, Cyrillic, Greek, Hebrew, Arabic and Georgian) with 33 downloadable dictionaries. Lapsus works with the layouts you already have installed.
Does it work offline?
Yes. Correction, including the optional neural model, runs on your computer. Lapsus goes online only to download dictionaries or models, check for updates and verify a licence key.
Can it switch the layout automatically?
Yes, if you turn it on: in automatic mode each word is corrected as soon as you press Space. It is off by default, so nothing changes until you ask.
